Effects of non-tariff measures on tea exports from Sri Lanka

This study employed the gravity model of trade to examine effects non-tariff measures (NTMs) on Sri Lankan tea exports. The used a panel data set including bilateral exports retrieved from Lanka and its ten major export destinations 2010 2019. frequency NTMs value shows an increasing trend. estimations show that except for tariff, coefficients all other variables are statistically significant aligned with theoretical justifications. magnitude gross domestic product importer countries presence colonial links positively act Lanka, while distance between capital cities trading partners lower More specifically, imposing additional NTM diminishes by 48%. Furthermore, have 66% tariff equivalent effect. Hence, Lanka's best prospects profiting depend altering policies, which just as barriers.
